On Wednesday 2nd May at 7:00pm, St Dominic’s College will be hosting a parent information evening in the Treacy Centre for parents of students interested in participating in a cultural tour of Italy in 2019. It is proposed that the tour will take place in the April school holidays 2019. The trip will be open to any student who is currently in years 9-11.

The purpose of this cultural tour is to allow students to engage in a different culture in a meaningful way, to help them gain the intercultural understanding necessary for effective engagement in an increasingly globalised world. Intercultural understanding enables students to respect their own and others’ cultures and to work and communicate with those from different cultures and backgrounds.

The proposed tour encompasses a wide range of Key Learning Areas and is intended to support students in a range of subjects being undertaken at the College. These subjects include, but are not limited to Italian, Religious Education, History and Art. The proposed tour will include visits to culturally significant sites in Milan, Florence, Venice, Rome and Naples.

The parent information night will include detailed information about the proposed itinerary for the trip, costs involved and give parents an opportunity to ask any questions they may have with regard to sending their son on an overseas excursion. If you are interested in attending the information evening, please send an email with your RSVP including your sons name, year and the number of people attending. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the College.
