As we reach the mid-point of the year and the conclusion of Term 2, our MCS Rugby League and Football seasons draw to a close.
On Thursday 21st June five of our Rugby League teams played in their respective MCS Grand Final matches. Our U/14A’s and B’s played their matches in the plate and trophy finals at The Kingsway, St Mary’s. The College U/13A’s, U/15’s and 1st Grade Rugby League teams played their matches in the Cup division at Panthers Stadium. With a number of supporter buses attending throughout the day, it was great to see so many students getting behind their peers, cheering and adding to the atmosphere. A special mention to Mr Cummins who was the driving force; leading the chanting throughout the morning matches. Each team performance throughout the day was competitive and played in the true spirit of the game. The sportsmanship displayed in victory or defeat was a testament to the both players and staff involved. After numerous attempts over the last few years, it was great to see MCS Rugby League premierships return to St Dominic’s College! Thank you to all staff and students who were involved with our MCS Rugby League teams this season; your ongoing support, dedication and extra efforts throughout the season contribute to our proud sporting traditions and success at St Dominic’s.
On Wednesday 27th June, the College welcomed Hunter Sports High to the College. Hunter recently defeated Holy Cross, Ryde in their Round 1 clash and will be a formidable opponent for the Blue and White; however, the team will be primed and ready for the clash under the guidance of Mr Mackinnon and Mr Rawding. The match was a success with the final outcome, St Dominics 26 def. Hunter Sports 14. If you missed it tune into the live stream via the College Facebook page.
St Dominic’s now are the current champions for 3 years running and are the CCC Basketball Champions again for the 4th year in a row claiming 8 championships out of the last 11. The team was confident to continue their MCS success of season 2017/18 under the guidance of Mr Hine and Mr Kilbourne.
The MCS Football (Soccer) Grand Finals continue onwards to Thursday 28th June at Blacktown International Football Park. The College will be represented by our Year 7B, 8B and Year 9 teams on the day. All three teams dominated their Semi-Final fixtures against their MCS opponents and hope to continue riding the momentum into their next matches. Good luck to our coaching staff and players for this coming week and well done on your achievements so far this season. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will once again be given the opportunity to support their peers at the MCS Football Grand Final day. If the expression “you get out what you put in” is anything to go by, these teams have placed themselves in a very good position to be victorious. It was great to walk the St Dominic’s fields this week and see the number of students and staff giving their time after-school in preparation.
The MCS Cross Country was recently held at the Penrith Regatta Centre. It was outstanding to see so many students giving their best for the College once again. The students achieved some fantastic results. Thank you to Mr Bourke who managed the team on the day. Team achievements included our U/13’s being crowned Champions, while our U/15’s and Juniors combined received Runner-Up honours. Congratulations to the following Individuals who placed in their respective age groups and will proceed to represent MCS at the NSWCCC Cross Country:

As we move towards Term 3, students are reminded to keep an eye out on Canvas for upcoming trials for Touch Football, AFL and Golf. Term 3 will also play host to the annual College Athletics Carnival.
