Last week Zac Cini of Year 12 travelled to Kingscliff with the NSWCCC U/18 Rugby League team for the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League National Championships.

In the first game NSWCCC were defeated by QLD 12-10 with Zac scoring NSWCCC’s first try. In the second game NSWCCC defeated NSWCHS 30-22 with Zac scoring a spectacular try off a kick to his wing. NSWCCC then qualified for the semi finals against NSWCIS with Zac once again starring scoring the match winning try in a 19-12 win for NSWCCC. He was awarded the man of the match for his performance.

In the grand final against NSWCHS Zac produced his best performance of the championships. Playing both fullback and wing he made some crucial line breaks in NSWCCC’s 28-14 win and was given the player of the final award. Zac was also the leading try scorer of the championships. At the end of the championships Zac was rewarded with a place in the Australian Schoolboys team.

The Australian Schoolboys will play 5 games on their tour of the UK and Europe in November including two Tests against England. Zac joins an illustrious group of former St.Dominic’s students to make the Australian Schoolboys team including Blake Austin (2009) and Nathan Cleary (2015).

We wish Zac continued success in his Rugby League career.
