Experience University for a Day

Some of our students had the opportunity to attend the Western Sydney U Day. This day provided the opportunity for high school students to experience a day on a Western Sydney University campus. The event allowed students to speak with current university students and academic staff, experience the range of courses available at Western Sydney University through interactive workshops and presentations. They had the opportunity to learn about scholarships, The Academy, pathway programs and further opportunities to pursue their career aspirations.

Year 10 Career Work Experience

A group of Year 10 students undertook a week of work experience recently. Work experience prepares students for life after school, giving them valuable insight and opportunities to explore the world of work.

Read some of our student’s reflections below:

I spent my week on work experience with a Landscaper. I was impressed with how well organised and friendly everyone was. There was a variety of different job sites we visited. I also learnt what qualifications I need to get to become a landscaper.

My work experience was with a Sprinkler Fitter, installing Fire Sprinklers. My first impressions were that I was going to be very busy because materials were getting delivered all day. I learnt how to work the machines and learned how to read plans.

Academy Access Award for Western Sydney University.

Every year Western Sydney University offers an academic award to a student who has shown leadership and academic ability in their school community. The Academy Access Award was created by Western Sydney University to honour students who have demonstrated academic achievements, strong leadership qualities and a commitment to make a positive impact in their school and local community during their Year 11 studies.

Year 9 Careers Lessons

Year 9 students continued their careers classes this term. Students have been exploring a number of different careers during these lessons. Students are encouraged to think about their future career goals. Career education helps students to develop self-awareness and self-confidence in making career and education related decisions. It allows students to have the opportunity to explore the world of work and provides opportunities to investigate occupations and post school pathways.
