Lent is central to our beliefs and provides us a time to reflect on our Jesus story. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent on March 6. We will have services at the College for our students to mark the start of their Lenten Journey.  Many families will be asking what they can give up or take on to prepare for Easter. One really practical way is for our students to complete their mandatory Social Justice hours during the 40 days of Lent and therefore focus on those who need our help. I will issue some tips and ideas on the website that you might like to consider. Please email me if you have any questions.

Clean up Australia, Kanangra Reserve

We will be cleaning up Kanangra Reserve after school on Friday March 1 from 3.00 to 5.15. Students have been sent the registration link via Canvas. This is a great way to ensure you have supported your sons to get their Social Justice hours.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove or Pancake Tuesday marks the emptying of the pantry to prepare for the sacrifices of Passover or Lent. We will have pancakes for sale on Tuesday March 5.

Caritas

We will be supporting Project Compassion run by Caritas and also using donated funds to help St Vincent’s Technical College in West Bengal, India. We will have Homeroom donation boxes and ask you to encourage your sons to drop in 20 cents a day. Developing and sustaining generosity in our children is one of the most powerful things we can do.

We hope that through all these activities, including the Opening College Mass, the community of St Dominic’s College  can truly give witness to the love of God.
