NAIDOC Week 2019
Under the supervision of Jesse from Nulungu Dreaming our Indigenous students have been learning traditional dance ove
r the last four weeks.
Our Indigenous students have been developing a variety of different dances with origins in both the Sunshine Coast of QLD and South Coast NSW. Recently students were given the opportunity to learn the significance of the different colour ochre used in ceremony and the meaning of the patterns which are painted on the body. Our junior students will continue with the dance workshops in order to perform at the College NAIDOC week assembly on Wednesday 24th July commencing at 8:35am. Parents are encouraged and welcome to attend this event.
A reminder that AIME mentoring continues for Indigenous students in Years 7-12 each Wednesday from 3-4pm in the A206. This is great opportunity for students to receive extra assistance with homework, assessment tasks and revision. Students are encouraged to make the most of the initiative and attend.
AIME program days will take place on the following dates this year:
- Program Day 2: August 30th
- Program Day 3: October 18th
*A reminder that students are required to attend a minimum of two tutor squad afternoons per term to be able to attend these days.
