Year 7 have been thoroughly engaged in their Science topic of Forces. By undertaking a number of fun experiments students were able to observe and record their findings on the effects of the forces of gravity.

Year 7 investigated the best shock absorbing materials for a car. In small groups, our scientists designed a crash test set up and observed the shock absorbing capacity of different materials. They used the slow-motion settings on their phones to watch their recordings of their trials and then report on their findings.

Year 7 also ran an experiment on the force related to the swing of a pendulum.  Students applied this scientific method to learn about how factors such as the length of the pendulum affect the time taken for the pendulum to swing back and forth.

These experiments gave our young scientists a great introduction to Physics and judging by their level of engagement, also proved that Science can be so much fun!
