WISHING OUR COMMUNITY A SAFE AND BLESSED CHRISTMAS
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,
As we conclude another vibrant and fulfilling school year, it’s a joy to reflect on the many milestones and achievements that have shaped 2024.
From academic pursuits to community-building events, this year has truly exemplified our shared commitment to excellence, faith, and service.
One of the recent highlights was our Prefect Investiture Ceremony, where we formally recognised and celebrated the student leaders for 2025. The College is so fortunate to have the quality of candidates apply for the role. The successful Prefects were chosen because of the strength of character they demonstrate day in and day out. They have shown resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right. True leadership is not about telling others what to do but inspiring them to be their best. It is about setting an example, even when it’s challenging, and standing up for what is just. We wish our Prefects every success for the year ahead:
We were also privileged to host students from Waverley College, another EREA college, who like us, have the Manchester City Soccer Program, bringing world-class coaching to our campus’. This initiative provided an unforgettable experience for our students, fostering not only athletic skill but also teamwork and discipline on one of the hottest days of the year thus far. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with another EREA member school and use this as a warmup for the upcoming Man City tournament in Melbourne where our students who are in the program will play against the other four Man City schools across the country.
Another momentous occasion was the CAPA showcase evening. Not only did we have the opportunity to present certificates to students who have worked extremely hard and produced some impressive works, but we were afforded the opportunity to walk around the Tracey Centre and view hundreds of art works. While this occurred, our taste buds were pleasured by eats and treats prepared by our senior Hospitality students. We then moved to the Lecture theatre where we had the pleasure of watching a variety of performances from staff and students across different musical genres. I was so impressed at the courage of our students to put themselves out there for our community to see. Special mentioned to Mr Cummins for his conclusion to the evening, who new! A man of many talents.
Our Prefects recently represented us at the new EREA Charter Launch. This event marked a renewal of our commitment to the values of Edmund Rice Education Australia, emphasising our dedication to equity, inclusion, and a faith-driven education. It was a proud moment for our entire community as we reaffirmed our mission to provide a nurturing and holistic learning environment. We received many complements in relation to how our school leaders not only read at the ceremony but for the maturity and esteem that they held themselves throughout the day, well done men.
As is the case at the end of a school year, we say farewell to a number of staff members.
Seamus Kennedy-Gould – 6.5 years
Diana Rimmer – 25 years
Britteny Fogliani – 10 years
Megan Blakers – 1 year
Tiana Spiteri – 1.5 years
Zac Culican – 9 years
Noreen Egan – 2.25 years
We thank each and every one of these staff members for their dedication and commitment throughout their time at the College. A special mention to Di Rimmer who for over two decades has worked tirelessly to support thousands of students over her years at the College. Her expertise in the area of Careers will be missed.
As we prepare for the Christmas season, I encourage you to embrace this time with your loved ones, reflecting on the blessings of the year and the hope that lies ahead. May the spirit of joy and peace fill your homes and hearts.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I look forward to welcoming you back in 2025 for another remarkable year.
A reminder that Years 7, 11 and 12 return on Tuesday, 4th February and Years 8, 9 and 10 return on Wednesday, 5th February.
Wishing you all a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year.
Mr Adam Rafferty
Acting Principal
