Dear St Dominic’s College Community,
I hope you are all keeping safe during this challenging period.
The NSW Government has instructed all schools to commence online learning from Week 1 of Term 3. St Dominic’s College has provided you with the following communication to help in supporting you and your son in preparation for online learning.
Professional Development Day (Pupil Free Day) on Monday, 12th July
At the end of last term, we communicated that the first day of Term 3, would be a normal teaching day, however, as the COVID-19 restrictions have unfolded, the College deems it necessary to have a Pupil Free Day on Monday, 12th July to allow teachers to plan lessons for the week and possibly beyond Week 1. Though these times continue to challenge us, we have had significant learnings from 2020 and are very confident that we, as a community, can continue with the learning agenda remotely.
Year 12 Major Works
Where possible, teachers will communicate with Year 12 students on the available times for students to attend the College and continue with their Major Work.
Year 12 HSC Trials – change of commencement date
At this stage the HSC Trial Examinations will proceed in Term 3, however they have been put back to Weeks 5 and 6, and the Monday of Week 7. The revised HSC Trial Examination Timetable has been emailed to Year 12 parents.
The College will keep Year 12 students and parents updated with any changes.
Years 7 – 12: Online lessons will commence from Tuesday, 13th July
All online lessons for Years 7 – 12 will commence from Tuesday, 13th July.
If a student has any concerns, I encourage them to contact their teacher/s to seek clarification.
Students will be messaged via Canvas _ Announcements, the expectations and guidelines for Online Learning.

For Years 7 and 8 students, there are changes to timetables due to Semesterised Courses – check Canvas Announcements
Students in Years 7 and 8 have received an announcement via Canvas outlining the changes to their Music/Art courses. These are Semesterised courses therefore, if you were studying Visual Art in Semester 1, you will now be studying Music. Likewise, if you were studying Music in Semester 1, you will now be studying Visual Art. Students are to familiarise themselves with the new arrangement for Semester 2.
Changes to timetables due to staff movement
Some classes will be affected due to staff movements at the end of Term 2 and will result in new staff timetables. All students are to check their Canvas announcements to determine if they have been impacted by the timetable changes.
Edmund Rice Learning Centre available for students between 8.30am and 3.00pm
As per last year, the ERLC will be available for all students who need supervision because parents are essential workers or have no other supervision option. Teachers will supervise the ERLC during these times.
Please note: Students with flu like symptoms must remain at home and are not permitted to attend the ERLC for supervision
The College will keep the community updated as soon as we are made aware of any changes for Week 2.
In moving forward, our plans have always considered the health and safety of our entire community and we will continue to do so as we are challenged, once again by COVID-19
Stay safe, stay healthy.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Michael Ronchetti – College Principal
