Firstly, thank you to each of our students who have trialled for our Term 3 representative sports. It is always admirable to see individuals challenging themselves to be selected in one of the College sporting teams. If you were not successful this time around, take the time to possibly ask your coach for some feedback and continue to develop your skills for the next opportunity.

This Thursday (Week 2) the MCS Touch Football and AFL competitions commence. Good luck to each of our teams as we attempt to replicate our outstanding results of the 2017 season. MCS Touch Football will now be played at The Kingsway, St Mary’s each week, while the MCS AFL venue will be Greygums Oval, Cranebrook.

This Friday 3rd August (12pm K.O.) our College will host the 3rd round of the NRL School Boy Cup. Our 1st Grade Rugby League team will be hoping to progress to the next round of the competition by overcoming a strong team from Bass Sports High School. The team has been riding a high since overcoming the highly favoured Hunter Sports High School in their previous match. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will have the opportunity to support the team for this match.

On Thursday 9th August the annual NSW All Schools Rugby League Elite Carnival will be held. At this stage the venues have not been confirmed. Further information for this event will be communicated once it is received from the NSWRL. Teams have been entered for our U/14’s and U/15’s ages. Unfortunately, there is no competition for the U/13’s to enter on the day.

On behalf of the Sports Department we would also like to congratulate Zachary Cini of Year 12 on recently being selected in the Australian Rugby League Secondary School team. It has been fantastic to see Zachary mature and develop in his chosen sport and wish him all the best for his tour of the United Kingdom later in the year.

The College Golf Trials are currently underway. Each Thursday many of our students are making their way to Glenmore Heritage Golf Course in an attempt to make the final selections for the MCS Championships which take place on August 23rd. If you are interested in being considered for selection, it is not too late, please make the time to see Mr Darcy for further information.

The College Athletics Carnival is fast approaching. The carnival will be taking place on Tuesday 21st August at Parker St, Lemongrove. This is a whole school event and further information on the arrangements will be sent out to students throughout the coming weeks. Students who would like to compete for the opportunity to represent the College at the MCS Athletics Championships are required to complete a pre-registration form which can be located on the Canvas Sports Announcement Page.
