At St Dominic’s College, students are supported to shape their own Stage 6 pathways, with opportunities tailored to their interests and future goals. Throughout their time at the College, all students gain valuable industry insights, career exploration experiences, and the practical skills needed to graduate as confident and capable young men.

We understand the importance of guiding and supporting our students as they move through key stages of their education, ensuring they feel prepared and supported at every step.

Students benefit from:

  • A broad and diverse curriculum offering pathways across the arts, languages, STEM, engineering, metal and woodwork, and other learning areas that nurture individual strengths and interests
  • An expanding suite of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses leading to industry‑recognised qualifications
  • Access to School‑Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), Externally Delivered VET (EVET), career expos, job‑ready programs and tailored career‑pathway resources
  • Dedicated careers‑focused sessions embedded across all year groups, ensuring students grow in confidence, clarity and preparedness for future pathways

SCHOOL BASED APPRENTICESHIPS (SBATs)

School‑Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) allow students to commence a formal apprenticeship or traineeship commencing in Year 11 and continuing through to Year 12 as a first year apprentice, while still completing their HSC. An SBAT combines:

  • One day per week in paid employment with an employer,
  • One day per week of formal vocational training (usually through TAFE or a registered provider), and
  • The remainder of the week at school, completing regular subjects.

This means students can gain a nationally recognised qualification, earn money, build work experience and continue their education at the same time. SBATs also contribute to a student’s pattern of study and can count towards their HSC.

EXTERNALLY DELIVERED VOCATIONAL AND TRAINING (EVET)

Alongside SBATs, students at St Dominic’s College can also access Externally Delivered Vocational Education and Training (EVET) courses. EVET programs are delivered by external Registered Training Organisations such as TAFE NSW, private RTOs, or community training providers.

EVET allows students to:

  • Study industry‑specific VET courses that may not be offered directly at the College
  • Gain practical, hands‑on skills in areas such as hospitality, automotive, construction, health services, IT, and more
  • Work towards nationally recognised qualifications that can contribute to both the HSC and future employment pathways

EVET is ideal for students who want to experience learning in a specialised training environment while building skills aligned with their interests and career goals.
