This week, St Dominic’s College celebrates Literacy and Numeracy Week and in true Dom’s style, our staff have delivered an incredible line up of activities that have engaged students and created an environment that encourages them to strengthen their love of all things reading, writing and arithmetic.

The week commenced with our annual Write a Book in a Day competition. For 12 hours, students worked together in teams to plan, write, and illustrate an original book with the aim of raising vital funds for kids' cancer research. Their determination has resulted in some outstanding books.

Our annual Year 7 Spelling Bee didn’t disappoint with an exciting line up of talented spelling champions. There could be one winner however, with Year 7 student Carter taking out the title of the 2026 Year 7 Spelling Bee Champion!

Year 8 showed incredible enthusiasm during our annual Maths Olympiad, proving that Maths really is fun! Congratulations to the 8 Rice A Team for winning the coveted Maths Olympiad.

We owe the success and popularity of this event to the wonderful Miss Quinlivan, whose coordination of this popular annual event strengthens our student learning experience, creating a real connection to the core staples of reading, writing and arithmetic!
