St Dominic’s College held a very special Assembly and Liturgy on Friday, celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - a significant occasion for our College community to come together in faith and reflection.

The College also took the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students, acknowledging those who have excelled in areas including the Visual Arts. We are incredibly proud of their creativity, dedication and commitment to their craft.

As we approach our annual Winter Sleepout, we were honoured to welcome Mr Bernie Fehon, founder of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout and a proud St Dominic’s alumnus from the Class of 1981.

Bernie spoke with our students about the importance of supporting those experiencing homelessness and hardship, and the powerful impact that empathy can have when we take the time to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes.

His message was a timely reminder that true service begins with understanding - and that small acts of compassion can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

We thank Bernie for sharing his story, experience and passion for helping those in need with our students, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to compassion, service and community through this year’s Winter Sleepout.

Today, our Year 9 students explored the fascinating world of atomic structure through a flame test practical. Students investigated unknown metal ions by identifying them based on the characteristic colours they produced when heated.
