Vinnies Winter Sleep Out
Over 70 students from Years 7 to 12 participated in the Vinnies Winter Sleep out, attended a liturgy at the beginning of the night. The liturgy was a great way to begin the night and was an opportunity for us as students to further expand our knowledge on the issue of homelessness and to pray for the thousands of Australians that are affected by homelessness each night. We were able to gain a greater understanding of the great work many of the students and staff from the College do on the Vinnies Van from Ms Ede provided us with her personal experiences and allowed us to understand how much difference a meal or somebody to talk to can be for anyone facing or experiencing homelessness. Students donated blankets at the liturgy in the hope of making a difference to somebody.

Winter Sleep Out Importance
On Friday the 23rd of August, staff and students from across all year groups participated in the annual St Dominic’s Winter Sleepout. I would like to thank each of the students who took the time to attend. It is not an easy task, with the temperature falling to 1 degree on the night, and their efforts are commendable. Such an event is pivotal in highlighting the realities of the hardships that some people face each day. In addition to this, the Sleepout is also key as a community-building activity, allowing for friendships to be strengthened and memories to be created, as we seek to fulfil the College’s mission statement.
Once again, a sincere thankyou to each and every student and staff member who participated and helped out on the night. It was an enjoyable experience, with the cardboard structures created being extremely impressive.

Jersey Day
On Friday the 30th of August, the College participated in Jersey Day, which was run by the SRC. A special mention goes out to Jake Zakostelsky and Shivam Kapoor who organised the day. Jersey Day is a nationwide initiative encouraging, educating and supporting organ donation in Australia. It is great to see the College getting involved in raising awareness for such a great cause.

Vinnies Winter Sleep Out Thankyou
I would like to thank all the parents and staff on behalf of the College that supported St Dominic’s annual winter sleep out. These events would not be possible without their support and dedication to an important cause, an extended thank you goes out to the staff that sacrificed their own time by sleeping the night at the College with the boys, without their supervision the event would not be able to run.
