Thursday, 21st May 2020 saw a milestone event at St Dominic’s College. Our first online assembly to celebrate the academic achievements of Year 12 after completing their Half Yearly assessments.
The unprecedented nature of current events restricted those able to be physically present at our Year 12 Academic Assembly, however this didn’t detract from the event. The assembly recognised students for academic excellence in achieving 95% or above in DSE (Diligence and Sustained Effort), and also for students who are currently ranked first in course.
We commenced 2020 with unprecedented weather events – devastating bushfires, then torrential rainfall to break one of our longest droughts on record – followed by a pandemic that continues to challenge the normality of our lives.
Within six months you, Year 12, will be farewelled from this great College and will have completed your final HSC exams. You will be thrust into an unpredictable world reeling from the effects of the aforementioned events. One can only hope that the Christian values, instilled over the past six years and lived daily at St Dominic’s College, empower you all to be Voices for a Better World.
