The Year 12 Academic Excellence Assembly was held today at St Dominic’s College to recognise the Year 12 High achievers from Semester One. This assembly was attended by the entire College community and parents of those Year 12 award recipients. Year 12 students at this assembly received awards for one or both of the following areas:
- First in Course – Semester One
- Academic Commitment (Above 95% in Overall DSE for Term One)
The former College Captain of 2013 Francis Tamer was invited as a guest speaker at this event and presented certificates to the Year 12 award recipients. Francis spoke to the assembly about the importance of every student having a positive attitude towards their learning. He encouraged all students to take responsibility for their own learning by attending class on time, setting some clear goals and maintaining a strong work ethic towards their academic studies. Finally, he reminded Year 12 students that their HSC was fast approaching and that they needed to make the most of their remaining time at St Dominic’s by completing past papers, seeking teacher feedback and revising their notes to ensure they achieve success in their HSC later in the year.
