Advent

As we move into Advent, the preparation for the coming of the messiah, we are all left with the question of how we truly prepare for holiness. Our Church teaches us that to be holy we must be truly whole and truly connected. Often our preparations for our Christmas feast reflect our questions as we invite people and become more generous and even friendly.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Our Vinnies Van Coordinator, Ms Ede, has been working with each homeroom teacher to gather donations for hampers that will be donated through the St Vincent de Paul Society. Students are purchasing items to ensure that while we are at our own Christmas feast, somewhere someone will have a little bit more on their table. We hope to process these into our Thanksgiving mass on Monday 2 December.

Social Justice Records

Front office staff have been kept really busy as teachers rally their homerooms to get in  the last of the Social Justice Records. We have 9 homerooms that have completed 100% of their Social Justice Records and a few that are awaiting 2 or 3 students. Last week we were able to announce to our Years 7, 8 and 9 students that they had volunteered 5702 hours. If you want to put that in real terms, that could 5,702 meals cooked and served at a hostel or soup kitchen.

We know that if we are trying to teach our students to be generous and compassionate, this is the way you do it, so the more encouragement from home, the more 100% Homerooms.

If you have any questions or want ideas feel free to contact me by email.
