The support of our local communities in the lead up to Christmas and the promotion of Gender Equity have been the focus of Term 4.
The launch of the Christmas Hamper collections has showcased the generosity of the St Dominic’s Community. A large number Christmas Hamper items were collected and will be donated to those families struggling with the cost of living.
Our commitment to the Greater Western Sydney Vinnies Night Patrol gave the opportunity for our students and staff to go out in November and feed those in those who are at risk of homelessness in the Parramatta and Mount Druitt communities. The Best Foot Forward initiative created awareness among staff and students of the plight many women and girls face in developing countries when it comes to access to education. Our staff wore their bright coloured clothing to show their support for this cause.
In support of White Ribbon Day, our senior students pioneered the White Ribbon Day Events to mark their stance against domestic violence. They tapped into their creative skills to produce key rings and bag tags that would remind our students to stand up to domestic violence and “Be the Change”. As part of the White Ribbon Assembly and Year 11 Workshop, our guest speakers, Sam from The Haven, and Senior Constable Macfarlane spoke to our students about Respectful Relationships and Domestic violence.
