St Dominic’s have further strengthened their relationship with the Penrith Panthers, announcing today that the Panthers’ Pathways Squads will utilise College ovals and facilities for training over the next three years.
St Dominic’s is thrilled and immensely proud to announce that our College will be the home of the Penrith Panthers’ Harold Matthews and SG Ball Teams for the next three years. This partnership not only strengthens the already strong relationship we have with the Panthers but also provides us with a unique opportunity to host and support emerging stars right here on our own turf, many of which are current students.

The connection between St Dominic’s College and the Penrith Panthers is both deep and longstanding. Over the past few years, several of our College staff have held significant senior roles with the Panthers. Currently, the following appointments are in place:
- Mr Kyle Churchill (SDC Representative Sports Coordinator) Head Coach – Harold Matthews
- Mr Zac Ryan (Diverse Learning) Strength and Conditioning Coach – Harold Matthews
- Mr Michael Ross (PDHPE Assistant Coordinator) Assistant Coach – SG Ball
- Mr David Mackinnon (PDHPE Coordinator/Partnerships Officer) Pathways Development Coach
Commencing in October 2024 the Penrith Pathways teams, including HM and SGB will begin training at St Dominic’s College three evenings per week, utilising Campus fields, gymnasium and classrooms after school hours.
Penrith Panthers CEO, Mr Matt Cameron, General Manager, Rugby League Mr Shane Elford and Pathways Manager, Mr Lee Hopkins visited the Campus recently to review the College’s facilities in the leadup to the Pathways Team’s residency.
“We are excited to strengthen our relationship with St Dominic’s College as we utilise their fantastic facilities for our Pathways teams. This partnership not only highlights our commitment to developing local talent but also reinforces our connection to the community that supports us,” Panthers General Manager Shane Elford said.
“Hosting our squads at St Dominic’s College is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the next generation of rugby league players and look forward to working closely with the College.”
The partnership between St Dominic’s College and the Penrith Panthers represents a significant milestone in our ongoing relationship with Australia’s premier Rugby League team.
