Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we commence Week 7, I am reminded of the wonderful and caring community of St Dominic’s. The past three weeks since our return, staff and students have worked in collaboration to ensure our environment remains safe so that the learning can continue face-to-face. There have been many courageous conversations ensuring that students remain focused on their learning. Considering the time away from face to face learning these conversations are important to support each student in their endeavour to perform their personal best.
The HSC Examinations have commenced well with our Year 12 students confident with their efforts in completing the first week of exams. With the last of the whole Cohort exams completed yesterday, students will now focus on their elective courses over the next three weeks. I look forward to acknowledging and celebrating Year 12 and their final year at Graduation Day on Monday, 6 December.
Year 10 commenced their Final Assessments online on Monday, 15th November. By completing their final assessments online, all students would be able to complete their assessments without the fear of a possible closure due to a positive case. With both the Trial HSC Examinations and the Year 11 HSC Preliminary Examinations successfully completed online, the College is very confident that these final assessments will also go well. I would like to wish Year 10 every success as they complete these final assessments.
Over the course of the next four weeks, there are a number of important dates that all families need to familiarise themselves with so that we can successfully complete what has been a very challenging 2021.
WEEK 7
Monday, 15th November – Friday, 19th November
- Year 10 Final Assessments Online
- Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 normal timetabled classes (all week)
WEEK 8
Monday, 22nd November – Thursday, 25th November
- Year 10 Transition Week – involves all students returning to St Dominic’s College in 2022
- Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 normal timetabled classes
Friday, 26th November:
- Year 10 Commissioning Liturgy and Farewell (all Year 10 students are expected to be in attendance). This is also the last official day for year 10.
WEEK 9
Monday, 29th November to Thursday, 2nd December:
- Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 normal timetabled classes
Friday, 3rd December:
- Year 7 2022 Orientation Day
- Online Learning for Years 7, 8, 9 and 11: to provide a safe environment for the new 2022 students, Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 will have an online learning day
- 2022 College Student Leaders will be required to assist with the Year 7 2022 Orientation Day
WEEK 10
Monday, 6th December: Year 12 Graduation Day
- Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 normal timetabled classes (compulsory attendance for all students)
Tuesday, 7th December: Annual Awards Ceremonies
- Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 normal timetabled classes (compulsory attendance for all students)
- Official last day for students
In the final weeks of school, I would strongly advocate for all students to be in attendance, especially as we missed so many weeks due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The final week will provide an opportunity for the community to acknowledge our Year 12 students and those students receiving an award for their commitment to their learning under difficult circumstances. Theses final two days are compulsory school days. Parental support in this matter is greatly appreciated.
