We have commenced the Year with some outstanding individual and team results. Recently our College was represented in a total of eight MCS Grand Finals; more than any other MCS College in the Summer competitions. These results really do reflect the dedication of both staff and students here at the College. The time taken to plan and run training sessions, as well as to travel to away venues is a testament to all those involved in sport here at the College.

I would like to congratulate those individuals who have also reached representative honors already in 2019 at both MCS and NSWCCC levels. It is outstanding to see students paving a pathway through their own desire and hard work within such a variety of sports. Once again, to the College Community thank you for your commitment to Sports here at St Dominic’s.

MCS Tennis:

Over the last two Thursdays, 16 students represented the College and competed at the MCS Senior and Junior Tennis Days at Parramatta. The boys played well and achieved positive results and personal bests throughout the day against other MCS schools. The majority don’t even play outside. We may not be known for tennis or achieve expectations of others but these boys don’t go down without a fight and strive for their best. They take feedback and train hard and in the end perform as well as they can improving with each match and working on their competition skills. Thank you to Ms K Keogh for being an great manager and support for both the students and to myself as the coach.

Special mentions to Luke Wheelahan who progressed to the semi-finals of the under 17’s singles and to Coby Carruthers who also progressed to the semi-finals of the under 14’s singles.

A huge congratulations to Year 12 prefect David Pletkan who won the Opens Singles title after 3 years! What an achievement in his final year of playing for the College. David played in the NSWCCC competition on Monday the 25th of March and finished third in his pool, a fantastic result.

I’m so honoured to have the opportunity to work with these students to develop their skills in tennis. It is a highlight for me for the year working with the tennis players in the school. Here’s to a stronger and better 2020.
