Earlier this year St Dominic’s hosted a Penrith Local Area Final of the Plain English Speaking Competition. The competition is an international competition that culminates in a final in London every year and attracts entries from most high schools in New South Wales. Schools from our local area recently competed for spots in the Western Sydney Regional Final, the next round of the competition.

Year 11 St Dominic’s College students, Lachlan and Marley, were successful on the day and participated in the Regional Final at Lewisham in May. Up against a very competitive field that included Year 12 students from Santa Sabina College and James Ruse High School, our boys acquitted themselves very well and, while not selected to travel further in the competition, received praise from the judges for their public speaking skills and unique arguments.

Both Lachlan and Marley are looking forward to capitalising on their experience from this year to launch another assault upon the competition in 2022.
