Congratulations to our Yr 7/8 Touch Football Team
On Friday, 1st November, 11 boys from Years 7 and 8 represented the College at the Regionals All School Touch Football Competition in St Marys.
Historically the College does well at this comp but with an addition of some new teams we knew that we’d have to play our best in order to have success. It was a very warm day but the boys subbed effectively in each game to ensure they were fresh when they we on the field.
We won our pool convincingly with 12-0, 8-0, 11-0 and 13-1 victories. We then won our Quarter Final 5-0 and our Semi Final 7-2, which put us up against our old rivals St Pats Blacktown in the final, who were also unbeaten.
In a see-sawing match in 35-degree weather we took and early 1-0 lead, but Blacktown levelled at 1-1. We then snuck a 2 try advantage to lead 3-1 with 5 minutes to go. Blacktown threw everything at us and got back to 3-2 with a minute to go. We held tight for the remainder and won the final 3-2.
It was a great effort from a bunch of boys who very much epitomised a ‘team first’ approach to their footy. We now head to the All-State Carnival on the 22nd November.
A thanks to Mr Mackinnon for managing the team on the day.
