On Monday and Tuesday of Week 7, Year 8 took part in their annual Surf Education Excursion at Manly Beach.

The boys participated in a number of activities including open water swimming, body surfing, board riding and learning about rescue and survival techniques in the ocean. The boys also learnt how to read water conditions and how to identify a rip.

The excursion was an extremely valuable experience for the Year 8 boys, many of whom don’t visit the beach very often.

The boys found the excursion very enjoyable even though weather conditions on the Tuesday were not ideal. The most enjoyable activity for the boys was trying to learn to surf with only a few boys managing to stand up on their board.
