Careers and Social Justice
- Developed ‘soft skills’ or employability skills is a very important attribute for an employee, as it suggests that a person has the ability to empathise and show a willingness to learn and to help others. I often encourage our students to use the Social Justice program as a way to reflect on ones own skills and abilities during job interviews and working with others.
- Social Justice is also seen to add value to a student, where many Universities are recognising this important community minded skill and accepting students into Early Entry Programs such as the Australian Catholic University – the Community Achiever program.
- Please encourage your son to look for opportunities to help others and reflect on the important skills these activities have given him.
Experience University for a Day at Western Sydney University
- Some of our students had the opportunity to attend the Western Sydney University Day. This day provided the opportunity for high school students to attend University for a day on the Parramatta South Campus. The event allowed students to speak with current university students and academic staff, experience the range of courses available at Western Sydney University through interactive workshops and presentations. They had the opportunity to learn about scholarships, the academy, pathway programs and further opportunities to pursue their career aspirations.
Year 9 Career Development Lessons
- Year 9 students continued their Careers classes this term. Students have been exploring a number of different careers and employability skills during these lessons. Students are encouraged to think about their future career goals. Career education helps students to develop self-awareness and self-confidence in making career and education related decisions. It allows students to have the opportunity to explore the world of work and provides opportunities to investigate occupations and post school pathways.
Important Dates for HSC ATAR Students:
- Year 12 Results and ATAR: Released Tuesday 17th December.
- UAC: Change of preferences due 19th December (Change preferences before midnight).
