Semester 1 Academic Reports

Term 2 is fast coming to an end. This will be concluded with our formal reporting of student achievement for Semester 1. Your son’s report will have a range of information for each of his subjects, including: an overall grade, an assessment of their performance against the learning descriptors for the course and the usual learning behaviours that are assessed through the College Diligence and Sustained Effort (DSE) system. If you have any questions about your report, please be assured the classroom teacher is best place to clarify anything needed. We hope your son’s report is reflective of the effort and achievement for his Semester 1 learning.

Year 11 2023 – Subject Selections

Year 11 and 12 will mark a significant period in our students’ education here at St Dominic’s College, particularly as they strive for their personal best in the HSC. Our current Year 10 students have recently been involved in researching and selecting appropriate subjects that they wish to study in Stage 6 at St Dominic’s. The students have been expertly advised by our faculty coordinators as they embark on this journey of post-compulsory education.

EREA Eastern Region Network Day

The first day back in Term 3, will be a whole staff development day combined with all the EREA mainstream schools in the Eastern Region Network. This day will be a significant opportunity for our staff to connect with their respective faculties from the 6 other EREA schools in the region. These schools include:

Waverley College, Waverley

St Edward’s College, Gosford

Edmund Rice College, Wollongong

St Patrick’s College. Strathfield

Christian Brother’s High School, Lewisham

St Pius X College, Chatswood

It is the second time the College has been part of a network day like this, with the first one occurring back in 2018 in smaller iteration. In 2022, our staff will have an opportunity to hear from their colleagues on successful teaching and learning in boys’ education, connection to the latest research, and an opportunity to share and collect resources from colleagues in our brother schools.

There has been significant planning and lots of excitement surrounding this event. Our staff are looking forward to connecting with our EREA colleagues, and being able to apply our learning in the classroom here at St Dominic’s College in Semester 2 and beyond.

We wish you and your families a wonderful and restful break. This time away will be important for your son to recuperate and prepare for the second semester of their learning here in 2022.

Stay safe and God bless.
